Agent & Director
I was a film producer before joining Felicity Bryan Associates in 2006. I represent literary, upmarket commercial and crime fiction, including a number of top ten bestsellers. I love books that are character-driven, psychologically complex, that have a strong sense of place and that say something about the way we live now. I’m always looking for the next great debut. I also represent the occasional memoir and would love to do more.

Before becoming an agent I was a publisher, commissioning and editing a wide variety of non-fiction writers, from film stars and politicians to academics and journalists, for Penguin, Headline, Fourth Estate and others. I particularly enjoy working closely with my authors to help them be the best they can be. I am looking for writers who write authoritatively and with originality in the fields of ‘Big Ideas’, popular psychology, current affairs, economics and business (though not ‘how to’ books). I also like writers who can explain complex ideas entertainingly or are able to transport me into a different world, in areas as diverse as popular science, history, literature, nature writing, travel, sport etc. And a sense of humour helps.

Before joining Felicity Bryan as an agent in 2016, I worked for five years at Conville & Walsh Literary Agency. At FBA I am actively building a list of non-fiction and fiction clients, with a focus on debut authors. I love well-written non-fiction by authors who are passionate – perhaps even bordering on obsessive – about a topic, and I have a particular interest in popular science, nature writing, big ideas, history, travel, sport, health, women, art and music. On the fiction side, I represent literary and book-club titles. It’s difficult to define what I am looking for in a novel besides fantastic writing, but I always seem to be drawn to unique and diverse voices, atmospheric settings, coming-of-age stories and books that capture the zeitgeist. I also host a monthly books radio show called Literary Friction.
