Dan Richards’s first book, HOLLOWAY, was co-authored with Robert Macfarlane and Stanley Donwood in 2012. THE BEECHWOOD AIRSHIP INTERVIEWS took a journey into the creative process and workplaces of some of Britain’s most unique artists and craftsman. CLIMBING DAYS, an exploration of the writing and climbing lives of Dan’s great-great-aunt and uncle, was published by Faber in June 2016 to excellent reviews. (Climbing Days is the most enormous fun… a wonderful achievement” – Katharine Norbury, the Observer.) Dan’s next book, OUTPOST, was bought after a hotly-contested auction by Canongate and will be published in 2019. OUTPOST is Richards’s tour of different wilderness outposts across the world – from the bothies of the Cairngorm Mountains in Scotland to Icelandic houses of Joy to forest fire lookout cabins in Wyoming.
